Setting up your own business can be tough. Even moreso when you are following in the footsteps of your parents, who built a thriving and well-known business together.
So I have big shoes to fill – not literally as my mum has average-sized feet (although that is the only thing I can say is average about Heidi). My parents have worked hard to ensure their clients have been looked after, whether they are new to the yard or have been here for over a decade, every single one of their liveries matters.
Mum and dad have gone above and beyond and they are recognised for that. The yard is always full. Liveries don’t often move on, in fact, sadly, the last couples of liveries they lost were because the horses passed away. To have a yard where everyone is friendly, supportive and helpful towards one another, and one that people don’t want to leave, is incredible. And quite an achievement in my eyes.
I’ve learnt a lot from my parents over the years; how to look after customers and the ways in which to run a successful business. And I’m sure I still have a lot to learn. However I hope with their support and guidance, I too will be able to build a client-focused business with the reputation my parents have.
